The live production leverages cutting-edge technologies the likes of Meta Movement SDK to deliver body movements and Meta Quest Pro enables face and eye-tracking, the full system seamlessly delivers realistic actor to CG character motion across the entire body in real-time. Live actors perform as Dickens inspired characters thanks to MetaHuman 3D models, underpinned by Unreal Engine 5. The show is performed live and viewed in VR as a shared experience with audience members, optimised for the Meta Quest 3 series with additional access Quest 2 and Pro headset users. The production pipeline includes Agile Lens’ proprietary avatar tech and integrated stage management control system for virtual production capabilities.
This innovative reimagining of Dickens’ timeless classic places audiences inside a live, interactive virtual world brought to life through realistic 3D animated characters driven by full-body motion capture and real-time theatrical performance. Actors seamlessly shift between the roles of Scrooge, Dickens, and the spirits of Christmas past, present, and future – offering a rich, multi-perspective experience unlike anything seen before.
Agile Lens previously brought the show, A Christmas Carol VR, 2024 Edition to world-wide audiences in VR and online in December 2024. As Media Sponsor, Instinctively Real Media was delighted to support the XR experience along with Sony and their mocopi motion capture system to deliver real-time full-body mocap.
